<strong>Flaxseed</strong>

Flaxseed

Liniun usitatissimun, or flaxseed, is an Asian plant used as food for large animals, such as horses, considered a hyper-concentrated food of high energy and protein value, which would help them survive harsh climate conditions.

It is suggested that flaxseed has been consumed since 5,000 BC, in Mesopotamia, from where it spread through Europe, Africa, Asia and, finally, North America. In 1550, it was brought to the ideal planting environment of the southern Brazilian fields.

Flaxseed oil is rich in essential fatty acids (omega 3, 6 and 9), which help the production of several important substances for the body. These substances support the normal functioning of cell membranes, brain functions, transmission of nerve impulses, anti-inflammatory and inflammatory reactions.
